Here's an example of one I made earlier!
You'll need:
12"x12" double sided paper
a scoreboard and bone folder
a paper trimmer or sharp scissors, a craft knife and a steady hand !
For the best results I recommend you use 12"x12" double-sided paper which is a good weight. I love Prima and MME papers for these cards, as the paper is very sturdy, giving you good crisp folds and enough strength to support the finished card with its contents and embellies.
First, use your scoreboard and bone folder to score your paper all the way down at 6".
Turn your paper and again score all the way down at 6". This will give you 4 x 6" squares.
Now fold down the corner of your top left square. Don't take the point of the corner right to the middle of the paper - you want about 1" of contrast paper still visible after you make the fold. Use your bone folder to make the crease nice and crisp.
Make a cut along the fold line to the centre point of the paper.
Now turn your paper over. It will look like this:
Go to the bottom left square and fold the corner to the centre of the paper. Line it up accurately against the scored lines and again use your bone folder to make a sharp crease.
Turn the paper over again - it should now look like this.
Fold the top left square (with the turned in corner) so that it is sitting on top of the top right square.
Now fold the bottom half of the paper up towards to top. You'll see the pockets forming now.
The left-hand square is the back of your card, so fold it around the back of the right-hand (yellow) paper.
I like to stick down the layers AFTER I've done all of my folds, but you can do this as you go along if you prefer. You'll need to stick the two open sides of the lower triangle (see pic above, where the bone folder is sitting). You'll also need to put adhesive on the layer underneath this triangle at the left-hand side only (ie. on the side of the spine of your card).
Here you can see the two pockets created by the folds. Now you're ready to start decorating!
