Lovely hAnglar and Sweet Magnolias - Sketch

We have a new challenge at Lovely hAnglar and Sweet Magnolias today!  We'd like you to follow this lovely sketch:

I really enjoyed making this card and know that this is a sketch I'll use again and again.  I realised too late that I'd got put my ribbon layer under rather than over, but hey...  my brain ain't what it used to be!

Here's my card

The papers are MME Fine and Dandy (Boy) and not my usual colours, but I love this pad so much I've ordered another one!   The great thing is that the papers tone beautifully with my Timmy markers, so the little hAnglar chap was a joy to colour.

I layered my layers (!) on coordinating Bazzill and inked all of the edges with Walnut Stain DI.  The sentiment is one of the new Lili of the Valley stamp sets. I thought this was really good value as it has loads of stamps for different occasions and they've all got a border around them.  I'm not the best at cutting out freehand but inking edges hides a multitude of sins!  All that was needed to finish the card off was some ribbon from my stash and a couple of pearls from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Our sponsor for this challenge is Creative Treasures

and this is what the lovely Tracy has to say:

I’m Tracy and the owner of Creative Treasures, we are a family run business with a love of all things craft related. We stock a great range of mulberry flowers, pretty ribbons, seam binding, lace, crystal drops, charms and lots of pretty embellishments. We are always adding new stock. Our aim is to provide fantastic customer service and great value for money.

I do hope you'll hop over and join us this fortnight.  Don't forget, you can use hAnglars AND Magnolia stamps now at LH&SM!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Bunny Zoe - Anything Goes
Here Come the Boys - Anything Goes
Allsorts - Birthday for Someone Special

Moon and Stars

Is the sun shining on  you today?  What glorious weather we've been having!  I'm hoping to get all of my  housework out of the way as soon as possible so that I can get into the garden.  All being well the Boy Wonder and I will be having our first barbie of the year this evening.  These are indeed rare occasions, so pigging out is an absolute must!

Enough of me wittering on.  I have a card to show you.  There's a new challenge at Sweet Stampin' starting this morning and this week's theme is "Moon and Stars".  This gave me the opportunity to ink up this lovely hAnglar stamp, which doesn't get used very often now that the Boy Wonder and his pals are almost teenagers.

I used the MME papers (again!) and inked and layered them with Bazzill.  Not much in the way of embellies on this one as  it's a boy's card, just a couple of buttons.  The doily was cut with a Cheery Lynn die and I inked that too with some Walnut Stain DI.

The little hAnglar lad was coloured with Copics and I added bucketloads of Glamour Dust to the moon and star.

I do hope you'll join us at Sweet Stampin' this week.  We're sponsored by Bugaboo who are giving away digis as a prize. You can take a look at the gorgeous DT cards the Sweeties have made here.

Have a lovely day!

Found some time to play around!

Sorry for the awful pun, but couldn't think of anything else to introduce this golfing Tilda card!

My Faculty Head wanted a birthday card for her mum, who likes playing golf and doing patchwork (hopefullly not at the same time), so out came golfing Tilda and my square Nesties.  I was going to stitch the squares in patchwork style but will explain why I couldn't do this in a minute.

As you can tell, I've still got the MME Fine and Dandy Boy pad out!  I used the gold toned papers to cut squares which I layered with Bazzill after inking all the edges with Walnut Stain DI.  I added a length of faux crushed silk ribbon from my stash and a sentiment made with the new Whimsy stamps set.  The roses are, of course, from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Here's a little peek at the inside...

So why didn't I go for the patchwork effect?  Because we had no electricity!  I got home from work to find that the power had gone off at lunchtime; Scottish Power didn't think we'd be back on until late into the night.  A tractor had reversed into the pole at the top of the road; the driver evidently knew he'd hit the pole, but didn't realised he'd brought down a wire.  He then drove over the wire, which got caught up in the rotors at the back of the tractor.  As he drove away the caught wire pulled down the electricity pole, which fell onto the second pole, which fell onto someone's car (fortunately no one was hurt).

On the plus side, it meant that I wasn't tempted to do any blog hopping and couldn't do any school work, so I was able to get my card made, albeit by candle-light! I even made a box (there's a first!) to put it in!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Wild Orchid Crafts - Anything Goes
Tilda's Town - Anything Goes
Magnolia Stamp Lovers - Hip to be Square

Viva la Diva!

Hello my lovelies! I'm making the most of having an internet connection by doing this post and catching up on what's been going on in blogland. I've so missed being able to get my daily dose of blog hopping!

Fortunately I had enough of a connection earlier in the week to see that my lovely pal, Faye, was having an "Ooh La La!" challenge over at Cupcake challenges. This means anything French, red/white/blue, oo-er missus/saucy - whatever the words "ooh la la" mean to you! How could I not join in?!

I went for a Saturated Canary digi, which is unusual for me.  Now, I love Krista Smith images but   I look at the beautiful colouring of these images on my favourite blogs and feel so envious because, even though I love these gorgeous digis, I just can't seem to colour them in a way that does them justice. However, when I saw this image I knew that it was one I would use again and again!  And I think she's sassy enough for the Cupcake challenge, don't you?  She reminds me of Blanche in the Golden Girls or the late, great Bette Davis in Now Voyager.
I coloured her with Copics and sat her on a Nestie cut from bright red Bazzill.  The DP is Magnolia and Maja Designs and the navy velvet ribbon is by American Crafts.  Finally I added pearls, some pearl spray and lots of roses from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Caberet's on the box tonight - very late, but, as I'm never again going to have a tiny waist like my little digi friend above, I thought I might settle down to watch it with some Lindor from my secret stash!

Have a lovely evening, everyone.

Flower Power!

Good morning! I hope you all have a relaxing weekend lined up.  I'm here to tell you about the new challenge at Sweet Stampin' which started this morning.  This week our theme is "Flower Power", so we'd like to see flowers on your projects, please!

Here's my take on the flowery theme:

I used a combination of Prima, Basic Grey (Piccadilly) and MME papers on a Craftwork Cards shaped card blank.  I masked the hAnglar character and stamped the Magnolia flowers over the top before colouring them with my TH Distress Markers.  Flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts, matte pearls by Pebbles Inc, sheer ribbons from the Ribbon Girl and a Craftwork Cards sentiment were added to complete the design.

I do hope you can hop over to Sweet Stampin' to take a look at the gorgeous projects my Teamies have created to inspire you to join in the challenge!

I thought I'd enter this card in the Just Magnolia challenge, which is to use more than one stamp.

Have a lovely day!

Is this really Spring?

Hello! At last, a post from me after what seems like days of having little or no internet connection.  It's been such a pain! I don't know what was worse, not being able to get anything done on the computer or listening to the Boy Wonder complaining about losing his X-Box Live connection!

I managed to make a couple of cards over the Bank Holiday weekend and here is one which I thought I would enter in the Just Magnolia and hAnglar & stAnglar challenge.  It's an "Anything Goes" theme but with the option of pearls and swirls.

I inked up this sweet little hAnglar girl as I thought she was very appropriate considering the weather here are the moment! She's been coloured with Distress Ink Pens and cut out with a Nestie.  I used a combination of Maja Designs and Magnolia papers for a nautical feel and added some Doohickey swirls, a few pearls from Wild Orchid Crafts and red ribbon from my stash.  When I remember where I've put my Glossy Accents I'll probably add some to the puddle at her feet!

Hope to be back again before the weekend with another card, internet permitting!

A New Challenge at Sweet Stampin'

Just a quick post while I've got an internet connection - it's been so erratic for the past few days and always cuts out while your in the middle of something!

Anyhoo, I really wanted to tell you about our new challenge over at Sweet Stampin'.  This week our theme is "Four Legged Friends", so we'd like to see animals (the four-legged variety) on your cards, please! And don't forget, you have to stamp to be eligible for a prize.

On the subject of prizes, our sponsor this week is Whimsy Stamps and of course we have our regular monthly sponsor, Joanna Sheen, who offers a £10 voucher to a randomly chosen winner from all of the month's entries.

Hope to be back with a card later, internet permitting!  In the meantime, do hop over to Sweet Stampin' to see what the Sweeties in Team Fi have made to inspire you!

Hugs,

Tracey xx
