Lots of Layers

Another Sunday, another new challenge at Lovely hAnglar or Sweet Magnolia!  This fortnight we'd like to see Lots of Layers on your creations, please.

I knew what I wanted to do for my DT card, but I struggled to find the right image to go with my layout.  Then I remembered this little hAnglar girl and everything started to fall into place.

I cut a selection of Maja Designs papers with a Go Kreate die and layered them up on a kraft card base after inking with Walnut Stain DI.  To add further layers I used a large doily and a Spellbinders die cut as a mat for the image, which I coloured with DIs.  I added some sparkle to her wings with Stickles.

I didn't go too mad with the embellies, just a Memory Box layered butterfly and some WOC flowers.  The mulberry leaves are from the Ribbon Girl.

No DP!!!

Eeeek!  No paper! That's our latest challenge at Sweet Stampin' and what a challenge for me, a self-confessed paper-holic!  And yet...

I really enjoyed making my DT card.  It was quite liberating not having to think about matching card and papers and I found that my new MFT stamps made a lovely backdrop to my focal point.  What do you think?

I cut a pierced Bazzill square with a Lil' Inker die (I'm so glad I got these!) and layered this with a square of white cardstock, which I stamped in sugar almond colours using the aforementioned MFT stamps.  I cut 2 Cheery Lynn butterflies and layered them on top, leaving the wings on the uppermost die cut free to add some dimension.

I can't say that this was quick to do as I learned that CAS isn't necessarily speedy, but I so loved being pushed out of my comfort zone.  In fact, I've got a couple of cards on the go which have much more white space than you would normally see on this blog and I'll post them as soon as they're finished.

Lovely hAnglar or Sweet Magnolia - Spring

A new challenge is starting today at Lovely hAnglar or Sweet Magnolia.  The theme is Spring, so I hope you are starting to see the signs of this lovely season wherever you are.

I decided the theme called for some zingy Spring colours, so I used some recently purchased Doodlebug papers - the colours in this pad are so fresh and cheery.

I coloured my hAnglar girlie with Copics, trying to pick out the colours in the papers.  I cut the scalloped border with a Spellbinders die and added some ribbon and flowers from my stash.

Flowers at Sweet Stampin'

Hopefully Blogger is behaving; this is a scheduled post as we're off to Seville for a few days of sightseeing, sun, vino and tapas.

Our challenge theme at Sweet Stampin' this week is an easy one: Flowers.  Unusually for me, in spite of the theme, I haven't actually added any flowers as the paper and image are flowery enough!

I cut the layers with a Go Kreate set.  The paper is from the K&Co Madeleine collection.  I've had the papers for years and don't often use them as I can't replace them - you paper lovers out there will know exactly what I mean!

The image is a Wee stamps digi and has been coloured with Copics. I've added Stickles to her wings and Liquid Pearls to the flower centres.  The other pearl embellies are from my stash.

Glitter, Glitter Everywhere

It's new challenge time at Christmas at Sweet Stampin' and this month we'd like to see lots of sparkle in the form of glitter on your creations.

This seemed the perfect theme for me to use my LotV Snowmen stamp and some much neglected October Afternoon papers:

I used a Go Kreate die to cut the layers and a Cheery Lynn die to cut the doily.  I also used a LOT of Stickles!
